The idea of an open-source map is rather cool. How does the GPS process go - does it have to be done at walking pace, or is it more that you have to stop and mark when you're at corners and things?
Few issues with the road labelling too.. that's kind of spoony.
yeah, that's their cheap-and-dirty renderer: they have a prettier one as well, which takes more time and is well behind...
it's doable from a car, assuming the reception is ok, my GPS device can be told to take a point every 10 metres or whatever. these traces then fit nicely over the aerial photography they have, and i then build the points and lines and i can name roads based on my notes.
so far i'm just sticking to doing simple residential streets. i may try to sort out the Tottenham Hale/Monument Way junction with Ferry Lane at some point (which is currently missing), but that looks terribly complicated.
