My MRI report )

So, the doctor thinks it is the small vessel vasculitis, which puts me at increased risk of stroke, and I need to improve diet, exercise, etc. I see from the Internet that it is sometimes associated with rheumatoid arthritis, which I may well also have. I'm having another blood test for that, with the promise of a referral to a rheumatologist.

It's done. Not so bad. Results in 4-5 working days. Feel a bit weird now.

Have my MRI tomorrow. Actually kind of scared now. Not about the thing itself but about what the result may or may not be.

Dear fellow residents of the London Borough of Waltham Forest,

Please recommend competent GPs within said borough (particularly in Walthamstow, but basically anywhere that'll have me will do)

Thank-you

GP this evening for various things. Headache-wise I have a script for Propranolol, which I am looking forward to trying.

In a very strange state now. Really ought to eat but don't quite trust myself to cook, and seem to have run out of sandwich filling. I guess I could make toast. Think I may just do that and then go to bed.

i seem to be coughing to death or something. which is, y'know, quite odd, as i'm not sure why. not coughing anything *up*. otherwise feeling reasonably good.

apparently i am allergic to our gas meter. curious.

resulting rash

struggled into work this morning with a cold, to find that 3 other people had called in sick. got sent home myself, as wasn't much use. *snuffle*

Quite a bit better now. Seems to have been a combination of migraine nausea, uncomfortable levels of wind and probably not having eaten enough the last few days. Still have quite bad headache but the other problems are now mostly gone.

I had been planning to return to work Monday, and possibly be well enough to do things this weekend (like actually move into my flat). We shall see.

Continuing to read Sandman. I was particularly amused by the guest appearance in Three Septembers and a January.

i feel sick :(

I am much better today than I was yesterday on one level. However, I am really knackered and have been all day. At this rate I will be lucky to be able to return to work this week.

Read much of Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman now. Interesting book. Shall have more to say about it when I've finished.

district nurse came round today to look at catheter. i was wincing so much that i was sent back to hospital, where by a very lucky coincedence Mr Terry was there and able to authorise just taking it out! so now i am only in pain i can deal with.

back home now. woo. catheter to be taken out on tuesday by district nurse - this means probably fools and heroes sunday not going to happen. ;) not sure when i'll return to work. we'll see how it goes.

it is good to have friends who work in the hospital you are staying at. last evening i taught [livejournal.com profile] vjbseven how to do sudoku without writing lots of numbers in the grid, and then later [livejournal.com profile] drjane brought me round the first two Sandman collections and a Lenore collection, all of which i have now devoured. I should have read these sooner. Now need to get Sandman vol 3!

In meantime, A&A have sent me my ADSL router thingy, so basically as soon as I have recovered I can move to flat properly.

Abi has asked that I post this: she continues to progress as expected, and should be home sometime tomorrow.

It's about quarter to seven. Visited last night by [livejournal.com profile] qfyd, [livejournal.com profile] bx_83, [livejournal.com profile] vjbseven, [livejournal.com profile] lost_species, [livejournal.com profile] lilgreendave and [livejournal.com profile] uv_pink_fluff (all at once), lucky i had a room to self really.

After they left, got given entirely unnecessary Picolax. Slept acceptably.

Went to theatre around 2pm. all is apparently OK. I have bed rest for 2 days, then I can go home. Catheter will be removed in a week. I can eat or drink but can't move to toilet to poo, so shouldn't eat much.

[livejournal.com profile] drjane visited this afternoon, bearing stuff, including textbook on urinary and renal system.

Ward 29, side room 2. All good so far. Theatre sometime tomorrow, unclear when. Surname is BRADY if you want to visit.

finally, got the go-ahead. off to hospital now. visiting is 2pm to 8pm. ward 28/29, leicester general. text me (i will likely have phone on silent) or phone parents for details (see userinfo for contact details).

still not been told to report to the hospital (2 and a half hours after i was supposed to). this is a bit of a bugger. will i have to go back to work tomorrow with nothing to show? argh.

at least something positive has happened today - my adsl order has progressed to the point where i've now given them money and am waiting for stuff.
abigailbrady: (Default)
i am now sitting at home waiting for a phone call which will tell me there is going to be a bed for me at the hospital overnight. because there wasn't earlier.

gah. this is just absurd messing me around.

Going to the hospital now...

Goodbye and thanks everyone.
