Tuesday: Cafe Scientifique. Interesting, but aimed at an audience that wasn't me. Seem to have agreed to help with running it a bit more. Eek.

Wednesday: Visited parents.

Thursday: Swan and Rushes pub quiz. This was pretty good, although has themed rounds that we weren't much good at. We're not sure whether we came last or not.

Friday: snore

Saturday: [livejournal.com profile] vjbseven and [livejournal.com profile] qfyd came round in evening, and we tried a strange new form of alcohol. that turned out to have bananas in it. oh well. went to psychocandy, became very drunk, had good time, then became tired and went home.

Sunday: saw The Corpse Bride, with people. this was generally enjoyable, although rather sane for a tim burton film.

back from the first new Marquis pub quiz, with [livejournal.com profile] vjbseven and [livejournal.com profile] drjane and [livejournal.com profile] grim_tim. not a patch on the old one. it is an unholy cross of pub quiz with bingo )

i seem to have 5 more sandmen now. well, there goes my plan for sleeping tonight. ;)

Oh, and the answer was Occupation Road. (you know the question, or not)

to 'trib last night, with [livejournal.com profile] vjbseven. not many people there, but saw [livejournal.com profile] lady_miamew, [livejournal.com profile] merlina, [livejournal.com profile] danalkaelra and [livejournal.com profile] neomix.

music downstairs was interesting. instead of the feared ska/punk night, we got all manner of (mainstream) rock through the ages, from Bill Haley to T. Rex to Iron Maiden to Bon Jovi to GNR to NIN to Green Day. danced lots, and upstairs too.

now rather the worse for wear...

[livejournal.com profile] lilgreendave and [livejournal.com profile] uv_pink_fluff visited me this evening, bearing a tiny delicate gargoyley thing to guard the flat, and that i must now name. :)

zootalure's magical bridget-jones-diary-generator! )

off to Firefly this evening. should be there around 7pm. come and imbibe.

Ikea trip went very smoothly, brought back a couple of low shelving units and a small chest of drawers which we built, and the remaining stuff was delivered about 6pm. In the meantime [livejournal.com profile] maxiie, [livejournal.com profile] sparklejess and Erin (livejournal-less?) came to keep me company.

BT still haven't phoned me back so I will try to kick some telco ass tomorrow morning, and maybe go hassle letting agency some more. Met the person who is moving into room 216 briefly today, first living person i've seen in the corridors (although i'm pretty sure there is someone at the end of my corridor now).

Going to Reading tomorrow! Huzzah!

Well, that has been an interesting day.

Day 2 at the festival. I saw the end of the Traces, Hot Chip, the Editors, Corb Lund (who were excellent - and any band that has a song called We've Been Drinking Beer All Night, It's Time To Switch To Whiskey or similar, and call it a spiritual, is OK by me), The Magic Numbers (who I ended up queuing for over an however for them to sign my copy of their album), Thirteen Senses, The Bees, KT Turnstall.

After this I decided I was knackered and headed to somewhere that is in relation quiet and comfortable (ie psychocandy/nowhere). this seemed quite poorly attended but the crowd that was out was good. Spent time split between the floors.

Met [livejournal.com profile] annomalley for first time in real life. [livejournal.com profile] landvaettir was looking resplendent with her new skirt and glowy balls. [livejournal.com profile] codezombie tried to persuade me to come to fools and heroes. two people commented that i was boringly dressed : yes, for i had been to a festival, and don't really think that, e.g. long velvet dresses go well with mud.

if anyone has found a purple umbrella at the attik, it is mine!

and then came home early. i have been out/drinking 8 days of the last 9 (including today), and it is starting to show.

tomorrow has a bit of an earlier end to proceedings. the last act, Patty Smith, will be on at 21.15.

Long day at work again. Decided to arrange to meet [livejournal.com profile] maxiie again, at Firefly this time, and we were joined by [livejournal.com profile] jacanthas_whip. Visits to the Vaults (where I drank strange 8% by volume cider) and the Globe followed, and we then returned to Firefly and got abused by some random guy. This happens infrequently enough to me that I can't cope.

After this, [livejournal.com profile] jacanthas_whip gave us a lift home in his scary landrover. Quote of the day : "oh, so Scraptoft is near the Scraptoft Campus!"

Very tired now, and have rather a bad headache. It is first day of Summer Sundae tomorrow and I have the day off. Hurrah.

um, oops

i met [livejournal.com profile] maxiie at jacey's after work today, after she did a drive-by adding of me on monday, having apparently seen me on [livejournal.com profile] retribution_lei. after this, her friend Ash (who is not on livejournal but has promised to get one [update: [livejournal.com profile] sushi_radical]) arrived and eventually they both tempted me to go to Retribution (well, not really Ret but downstairs at same place). danced a bit and then came home.

this is a very bad thing for me to have done what with me not having had a proper night's sleep since tuesday last week.

however much interesting and useful conversations and comparing of notes took place. so all good!

now i must wash my hair.

the non-picnic in the pump and tap was good. lots of people there and we drank booze and talker about shit which is good! thanks to [livejournal.com profile] lilgreendave and [livejournal.com profile] uv_pink_fluff for organising it!

also thanks to [livejournal.com profile] greeba has lent me various doctor who (city of death, genesis of daleks, talons, and another one i forget. :)

after this went to the other pub, where i was joined by [livejournal.com profile] qfyd, [livejournal.com profile] bx_83 and [livejournal.com profile] eldritchreality. we then proceeded to see the Fantastic Four, which was quite a fun stupid superhero movie.

v. exhausted now. need hot bath.
abigailbrady: (Default)
Back from Merciless which was fun I think. Didn't dance much. Apparently gin and tonics glow wicked under UV.
abigailbrady: (Default)
to [livejournal.com profile] landvaettir and [livejournal.com profile] riak's this evening for bad movies. watched Leprechaun in the Hood (IMDB) which was as promised bad, but happily in a funny way. Oh well, if it keeps Warwick Davies off the streets it must be good. :) apparently this is the 5th movie (Leprechaun in Space being the 4th). The 6th is "Leprechaun: back 2 tha hood"!!! As if this film needs a sequel. Erk.

[livejournal.com profile] danalkaelra is now my colleague. cool but weird.

there was a crime scene on the bridge near the holiday inn. had lots of police and a scientific support van at about 8pm today when i went passed it, and when i returned some hours later it still had lots of police.
abigailbrady: (Default)
yay, my circadian rhythm must be screwed now. but barbeque for breakfast = good.

psychocandy quite fun despite reduced turnout.

newspapers still haven't phoned me.
abigailbrady: (Default)
had pre-intelekt wardrobe crisis which has led to much of the contents of my wardrobe being on the floor now... will have to sort this out tomorrow. (need more space).

in end decided on something that i didn't dare actually stand up in until (a) i had several shots, (b) it was demanded that i do so. still think i looked silly ;)

every line i cross i get nervous. it's strange.

26 today

i just got back home and i can just see the glow of daylight starting (is there a word for that?). haven't done that in a while (but then its not always midsummer).

so. went to pride yesterday (Saturday) with [livejournal.com profile] alexa_robinson. was quite fun, especially Rosie Lugosi, the lesbian vampire filk-singer. whilst there met up with [livejournal.com profile] avstrangegirl and [livejournal.com profile] alexa_jay, but then both the alexas left us... managed to persuade [livejournal.com profile] avstrangegirl to come to retrib, so we met up with [livejournal.com profile] lady_miamew at jaceys and then bumped into [livejournal.com profile] eldritchreality at retribution. was ok, certainly beat moping in my room as i was planning to.

i am 26 now. it feels much like being 25 was.
abigailbrady: (Default)
quite a good night out. introduced lots of people to each other which is good. danced lots which is good. didn't get too drunk which is good. got someone sent over to ask me on somebody else's behalf if i was single, which is also good. went home just after 0130, due to tiredness and hotness.

everybody is apparently coming to see Batman Begins at the Odeon on Sunday, meeting 1345 for the 1400 showing. it should be good!

It has been a veritable cluster of birthdays. Yesterday's was a strange non-livejournal person's one, and I got drunk and ate Indian food but not in that order. I did resolve to damn well go to Quebec on Friday some day when it's not being used for Intelekt, on the grounds that maybe then the lesbians will spot me. Does anyone fancy coming with me?

And then, today, it was [livejournal.com profile] jisha78's birthday, and everybody went to the Pump and Tap and celebrated. I have a feeling that someone will describe me by saying "[livejournal.com profile] abigailb was amusingly drunk". Which is probably true. I will only say I am glad that Easyjet don't accept calls from mobile numbers (or possibly just me).
abigailbrady: (Default)
Well, wasn't in the best of moods for it but went to psychocandy/nowhere anyway, and had reasonable fun.

spent most time upstairs, where the thorax of genre is reportedly now in a bloody pulp, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] darkstream and [livejournal.com profile] them00kking. discussed possibility of cool hair with [livejournal.com profile] cyniborg. lots of people standing upstairs - think they really need to get more stools (one is not enough).

in the end i danced to only one song - Doctorin' the Tardis by the KLF. and i only danced to that because Jon made me. tsh.

pondering going on tomorrow's outing to see the League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse. not really familiar with the tv series (it having started after i stopped watching tv). will it still make sense? (or is it not supposed to make any sense?)
abigailbrady: (Default)
to the Orange Tree and Intelekt this evening, and then back early because of tired/headache. (yes you did catch me yawning). half-heartedly danced to one track and then gave up.

pondering a little shopping trip to Brum tomorrow.
abigailbrady: (Default)
Really glad its the end of the week... Intelekt this evening. Yay.

Holiday has been booked, so I'm taking the 4th and 5th off to see NIN, and various random dates in August off for WikiMania, Summer Sundae and Reading... I'm going to be so knackered come September.

Should I have a birthday party? It would probably be the 25th, after Pride.
