i don't know many things. what he was thinking - such cheerful insensitivity - or whether i should trust so freely. and for that matter do i have the right to be upset? i have to admit it was kind of satisfying watching through the glass later. i like my little bubble, please don't burst it.

back. whee. good night. hair stayed mostly in although the big hairbandy thing kept migrating upwards. pins? danced lots. so very hot.

but not very many people out again :(. tsk. tomorrow is psychocandy, and also i plan to possibly make a test batch of scones

(remember: Saturday 20th: TEA. SCONES. DOCTOR WHO. LORDI. COCKTAILS ETC. DARKSCAPE. possibly in that order. what more does one want from a day? come 3-3.30ish to watch scones being made for FOUR O'CLOCK EXACTLY. bring things to spread on the scones, or teas. or whatever you like really.).

so: consensus about poll is: bad idea!

sheffield

so. went up to sheffield friday and then met [livejournal.com profile] warofdreams and eventually ended up at batfink (after a diversion to the ANTI-DEV). which was rather entertaining although very odd in that venue. i did like the way the townies gradually emptied out and the goffics instantly filled any available seats. met up with [livejournal.com profile] spindr there, who i am now convinced actually exists.

today, after sleeping in quite a bit went to town and met up with [livejournal.com profile] qfyd and [livejournal.com profile] bx_83 and then went to theirs and watched doctor who and suchforth. rather liked doctor who, especially the horse. we seem to have got sucked into the world of perplexcity.

zeitgeist ii went pretty well, considering. a few bands i shall be looking up on interweb. a few i shan't. my head hurts now. :/

oh. and i finished Frankenstein now. not sure what to read next. i really should make a start on some of these recommendations really. ;)

and happy may day!

and a further addendum: when i got back into my building late last night i was greeted by a cloud of dust which made me choke and i could barely get through. some idiot appears to have let off most if not all of a powder fire extinguisher in the entrance area. rah!

back from mudmeet. rather entertaining. also knackering. finished The Catcher In The Rye up there, and then started Frankenstein on the way down. the rather dissimilar textual styles (although i note they are both written as first-person narratives/correspondence) have vaguely tempted me to rewrite Frankenstein in a more modern mode of speech. Robert Walton's first message to his sister could be thus:

Hi Maggie. Got into St Petersburg yesterday, very cold. Planning to discover Northwest Passage. Been whaling lots, even got hired as first mate. Off to Arkhangelsk in a couple of weeks! Will keep in touch. x Rob.

Except translate that to txt.

upcoming week currently rather quiet:

you will note absence of any form of pub quiz. :( I'll be happy to do Thursday's again if other people go, though don't want to turn up there on my own.

Happy birthdays to [livejournal.com profile] doctor_tron and to William Shakespeare!

barely 12 hours after we had been chucked out of Firebug at closing time at 1am or so on Tuesday/Wednesday night, i found myself back there lunching with [livejournal.com profile] tankgirlinblack. maybe i should move in?

Doctor Who report: have watched Spearhead from Space now, with [livejournal.com profile] zub (which means i can give it back to [livejournal.com profile] greeba finally sorry). We found this quite entertaining. Also watched most of The Daleks, which was the 2nd ever serial. Can you spoil a 43 year old TV show? Well, I was surprised by this anyway so let's pretend you can. )

Swan and Rushes quiz tonight! 8.30! Bring your useless trivia general knowledge!

for the attention of all: i have invented a new swear word today. it is CANK. please discuss what it should mean.

apart from my invention of a swear word, it has been a long day. went to opticians for an eye test : they should have some contact lenses for me to try next week. i am rather nervous about this, especially considering how i was when they needed to put eyedrops in my eye to check my eyeball curvature. but we'll see.

after this met up with [livejournal.com profile] vjbseven. after a brief shopping expedition, we hung around at my flat, watched stuff on dvds and computer. and i cooked scones! [livejournal.com profile] zub (my brother) arrived one or possibly two minutes after 4pm but oh well. the scones were very nice and only one of them came out even slightly mutant. i shall do this for real at some point: thanks to people for beta-testing my baking. i shall try cakes next.

very tired now. tomorrow I am going to manchester for the weekend. [livejournal.com profile] saintmaryuk and folks : if you want to meet up give me a text or something. :) [ do i know anyone else in manchester? ]

Franz Ferdinand Frontman Shot By Gavrilo Princip Bassist

[livejournal.com profile] qfyd and [livejournal.com profile] bx_83 were in Leicester yesterday so met up with them, [livejournal.com profile] vjbseven and [livejournal.com profile] grim_tim for chinese, and then adjourned to grim_tim and [livejournal.com profile] drjane's house. which looks very nice (insofar as it is finished). then to Firebug where me, [livejournal.com profile] darkstream and [livejournal.com profile] greeba won beer in the music quiz. it is in the cupboard with the other beer. i think i need to do something with this beer before i run out of cupboard.

weekend

quite a quiet weekend. helped [livejournal.com profile] vjbseven and [livejournal.com profile] lost_species empty their flat on Sunday and was impressed they got everything into their van. We watched Remembrance of the Daleks on Saturday, which was good. Last night I went to see some bands at FireflyFirebug. Probably going to pub quiz there tonight.
abigailbrady: (Default)
see everyone at b-movie this evening. :)
abigailbrady: (Default)
friday evening went to other Abi and Guy's wedding afterparty at Firebug. really fun. it seems good that the council are using the Town Hall for that sort of stuff nowadays - it's a bit better setting than the old registry office.

then, out to Autonomy/Retribution last night (spent more time upstairs due to guest, oh well). wore fluffy hair, which people seemed to like (one person even asked me technical questions about it! eek!). left about 0430, in the end. :) very tired now.
abigailbrady: (Default)
Went to Magenta in Nottingham last night with [livejournal.com profile] doctor_tron, which was a bit unexpected. ;) Was good night, much more cyber then I was expecting. Just got back to flat now - very tired and a bit hungover, and tonight I am doing it all over again at 'trib. Hurrah.

went to [livejournal.com profile] psychocandyclub/nowhere on saturday, which was fun. quiet but oh well. met new people. got excessively drunk, enough that at the end when Journey of the Sorcerer by The Eagles (also known as the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy music) was played, I danced very enthusiastically.

this evening went to see Regina Spektor, who was Quite Good &tm;. Because she was sitting down much of the time, the fact I forgot to bring a camera didn't really matter.
abigailbrady: (Default)
went to Pump and Tap this evening with [livejournal.com profile] jisha78, then moved onto the looking glass where we were joined by [livejournal.com profile] greeba. successfully drunk. rah.

i want a sort of fabric with stripes (blue and black), but the stripes are chopped up so that they have discontinuties in them - but not total discontinuities, so it would be like three different types of barcode which partly matched up with each other and partly didn't. does this sort of thing exist or am i going to have to kludge it?
abigailbrady: (Default)
right. tonights plan is to go and get drunk. we shall be starting at the Pump and Tap. join us if you will. text me if you want to find us.
abigailbrady: (Default)
On Friday [livejournal.com profile] qfyd and [livejournal.com profile] bx_83 and [livejournal.com profile] vjbseven came round and we all watched Tomb of the Cybermen (well, except that [livejournal.com profile] qfyd and [livejournal.com profile] bx_83 had to travel so only caught the first three episodes). This was really quite good and my previous complaints about direction style and pace don't apply to this even slightly, for some reason.

Wikimeet was good apart from the part where my train turned out to be a bus. much cider consumed, much nonsense was talked. Hurrah. Finally got back past midnight.

Bored.

went to the event (Zeitgeist) at the shed. back. was quite good. conspiracy pulled out so there were only two bands - first one was alright, but preferred the second. also spent a bit of time playing Bubble Bobble with [livejournal.com profile] eldritchreality, which i was surprised to discover i am still good at despite being very very drunk. which i am. nice to see everyone there. apparently [livejournal.com profile] cyniborg is going to make me some hair.

[livejournal.com profile] psychocandyclub was good. seem to have failed to do any christmas shopping again weekend. oh well. amazon finally sent me Ministry of Space.
