Oh, and here are some we tried to watch but gave up on quite quickly:
Parks and Recreation
A greatly inferior rip-off of the American version of The Office.
Extras
Has its moments, but not compelling enough for us to stick with it. Ricky Gervais can write for one character and one character only, and that is Ricky Gervais. This show has all sorts of very famous guest stars, and while you'll see their lips moving, the only sounds that come out are Ricky Gervais.
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Yet another "embarrassment comedy" series which is more painful than funny.
Hannibal
Pretty mediocre. Might give it another try if we can find subtitles for the mumbling Danish guy in the starring role.
All that Gervais/Office stuff reminds me, though of another Gervais show which actually belongs on the earlier "highly recommended" list: An Idiot Abroad. In case you haven't seen it, it's a travel series where Gervais sends his friend Karl Pilkington on various holidays around the world. What's unusual (and funny) about the series is that Pilkington has no interest whatsoever in travelling or learning about other cultures, and bitches and moans about almost everything he sees and experiences.
