So, uh, what does it do? Asset tracking of some sort it looks like?

I'm not quite sure how to explain it to a non-industry person. It sits in a place in the VFX pipeline between the edit and the compositing, letting work be assigned out and then reviewing it in context.

I have to say That i haven't read more than curcy about heiro as yet but i know teh industry is really excited about this

workflow management is critical in the VFX industry
various VFX companies have internal tools but this is one of the first general management tools

in the most crude terms this is like load balancing for multiple servers
In the VFX industry as shot may go through loop after loop after loop as aspects of it are adjusted and then need readjusting, this can create multiple files and masses of data all of wihich need ti be managed

the VFX industry has huge headaches when it comes to data managment the like of which few other industries have to face
