Saturday - Wikipedia meet. Good to see people. Got rather too drunk!

Sunday - nothing to report.

Monday - watched the first episode of the new season of Doctor Who. Hurrah!

Is Hurrah! not sufficient?

Um. Well, it's different to the old Doctor Who. The new Doctor is still quirky but in new ways, it isn't a multi-part story with the Doctor and his assistant continually getting captured and escaping and getting captured and suchforth (good), although they have updated the special effects, they've kept the important bits (the police box, the basic interior of the tardis, the sound effects)... It is funny, but not in a parody way. I was too young though to see the original much - was 10 in 1989 when it went off the air. Will definitely be watching the next episodes.

I think its' real succes, as well as Chris and Billie, is in the writing, as you say, funny without parody. Playing it as a parody would have been the kiss of death. Fortunately, Russell is not only a BRILLIANT television writer, he loves Doctor Who.
I went to the recording of the Mastermind special, where Eccles told Humphries that he wouldn't have been interested in a parody.
He got a huge cheer for that:-)

I give special points to the London Eye behind the Doctor scene. "Fantastic!"

The new doctor who was fab.

Thank god he isn't wearing tacky clothes either :). Does anybody know if it is going to be a self contained episode each week or are they going to do multi-part episodes as well ?

mostly self-contained, with a few two-parters, and a bit of an ongoing story arc.
