for pembury people

the internets inform me that Oyster Pay as you Go will be valid from Liverpool Street/Seven Sisters/Walthamstow Central to Hackney Downs from January 2 (and on other in-between stations). so it will now be less hassle to obtain beer. (it has been valid for travel to Hackney Central since November).

Will it be cheaper than paying cash?

possibly. certainly, it will be no more expensive. the punitive increases for cash fares on the underground will not be rolled out to the mainline, but oyster daily capping will kick in as per the tube and is 50p less than daily travelcard.

Oh, that's useful. Is Stamford Hill included?

Yes. Bethnal Green NR, Cambridge Heath, Clapton, Hackney Downs, London Fields, Rectory Road, Stoke Newington, Stamford Hill, St James Street.

No validity north of Seven Sisters/Tottenham Hale/Walthamstow Central announced yet.

I was reading that and thinking beer and trains don't mix as anyone would contend who has had to sit opposite someone who has had a skinful.
I then worked out this was about it being cheaper to seek out beer rather than actually purchasing it on the train or at the station.
Last time I used the London rail system was just after the Kings Cross explosion going to see Peter Murphy at the Scala so a very long time ago , possibly.
