new word: 'trichoequilibrium'

me and [livejournal.com profile] grim_tim and [livejournal.com profile] drjane invented a new word at the weekend. it is "trichoequilibrium" and as of writing this it has no google hits. the word means: the natural length your hair will remain at if you don't have it cut.

as an example of usage, if you have fast growing, strong, or persistent hair, you will end up with a longer trichoequilibrium point than folks who don't.

(i just read a latin textbook, can you tell? 18 books this year, by the way, i hope to have all 50 done by the end of summer! more if graphic novels count.)

I wish i had that much time to do reading, I just seem to always be working.
Interesting word though, I guess that will make your journal a google wack until someone picks up on it and starts using it themselves. I wonder how long my hair would get if i let it do that, but unfortunately it gets tangled if i don't have it cut frequently enough (its in dire need right now... last time i had it done was july)

anyway must get to work
take care

Nah. What you do is hang around on the wiki being blatantly and flagrantly sane and clueful. Then Jimbo drafts you ;-)

That's a good word. I think I might be in partial trichoequilibrium, in that most of my hair is as long as it gets and has been for years, but there are some bits that get shaved. Would it apply only to head hair, or all general hair? Is trichoequilibrium in men the desert island castaway look?

Yes, adjectives all round. I guess we could use "pogoequilibrium" for when specifically a beard is in trichoequilibrium, as an example.

Mine at least used to be about nipple length. I've wondered if there's some way of getting it to grow longer :/
