it is november. we got up to The Illusion of Truth.

i seem to have bought an awful lot of X-Men trades (mostly 2004 a stuff and after, House of M, Decimation and stuff). worse: i am now buying four actual comic books! (eternals [by gaiman], 1602: fantastick four [which is a spin-off of gaiman's rather good 1602, following the fantastick four, written by peter david], phoenix: warsong [which is not a jean grey ressurection story], and ultimate power [which is a rather silly crossover between ultimate universe and joe's new supremeverse]). but all of these are limited series. so that's ok. please shoot me if i start buying X-Treme X-Men.

you probably don't remember my glee at having recieved my first electricity bill. well, on Tuesday I recieved my first water bill. No. Really. It covers year from August 2005!

Must get hold of the 1602 Fantastick Four one. 1602 was brilliant, although the second one doesn't look as promising. I'm hoping the Tale of the Fantastick will be better.

i didn't much like new world, the 2nd one. i may have posted a rant about the fact they are seen to take down the flag at the end of the story. this is great and symbolic, but IT IS THE WRONG FLAG. the flag clearly is the post-1801 Union flag, with the St Patrick's Cross on it. 200 years! in any case, it is unclear whether any union flag should be at that colony, considering it was an english colony, and they have had barely any contact with the too-early King James. Did Lord Iron get sent with orders to capture Bruce Banner and Peter Parker; and a new set of flags? I think not. oh, and the story is weak, as well. but what is that to pedantry about flags. :)

Fantastick Four is being fun, though. Issue #2 was out a couple of weeks ago or so.

I'm not big on flags or the pedantry thereof so I wouldn't notice these things.

Dave is buying the Fantastics which I will steal when I can, but he gets mighty protective of his comics!

its just indicative of the lack of research. 1602 was very well-researched, so seeing details like this in a spin-off (i can't remember other specifics) jarred.

yes, do steal comics from dave : surely he must leave them unguarded some of the time?

oh, and to ask a random question: since it has come up on wikipedia: where would you say, without consulting a map, is the eastern border of the town of middlesbrough?

and then, consulting the border (dashed blue line), does this surprise you?

Ah but Middlesbrough is now known more as 'Teeside' thus enabling it to stretch itself out and amble across the North East engulfing small villages in it's wake.

aye; but we have someone basically claiming that if you were to claim to people that Eston, Normanby, Grangetown and South Bank aren't actually in Middlesbrough (but in Redcar & Cleveland), people from Teesside will look at you strangely. (he'd then gone and edited lots of articles in accorance with this kind of Greater Middlesbrough Empire viewpoint, even claiming that Port Clarence is in Middlesbrough, when it's on the wrong side of the Tees!)

not quite sure whether to believe him or not.

Just think of the slogans: Severn Trent: we don't just leak your water, we leak your money, too.

Cue the many possibilities linking the act of throwing money down the pan ;)
