CSL yesterday was good. Average guess for number of sweeties was 140, a bit above the real figure of 110.

They seem to have started work on what used to be The Spread Eagle on Charles Street. Signage has been removed, it has been painted blackish, and it has a "TO LET : CAFE BAR/RESTUARANT" sign.

Ah. I'd wondered how it was Northampton was able to attract far more high profile gigs than us, despite it being about 1/2 the size in terms of urban population.

Yeah, I guess that sort of thing isn't seen as "cultural" enough. We have the De Montfort Hall which does a mix of other things with some rock, and seems safe.

Yeah. Rock venues are in reasonably good health nationally, certainly far better than any other musical things, and therefore managing to lose money even despite a subsidy points at them being more ambitious than they had the budget or audience for perhaps.

Sadly, The Charlotte isn't likely to pick up the big bands, because its too small, and DMH is good but doesn't book a lot of it. Likely they'll just play Nottingham.
