Howard Dean elected president of the Democratic National Convention.

American "party" structures confuse me (I find primary elections especially odd), but I understand the DNC is the closest thing to an actual party organisation... Very good that they aren't just saying "ooh, we aren't right-wing enough", unlike some supposedly left-wing political parties that lost a number of elections in a row that I can think of!

The front page of today's Independent seems to have a sense of proportion, at least.

I would just like to say.... Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

This years Appropiation Act is actually itemised!

See the contents. You get to see exactly how much each mission statement costs.

From this we learn that the Home Office spent £12,341,608,000 on 'building a safe, just and tolerant society', the Department of Transport spent £11,031,616,000 on 'promoting modern, integrated and safe transport and providing customer-focused regulation'. Meanwhile, the Department of Health spent £50,965,112,000 on 'securing health care for those who need it'.

Well, I got the winner right. That's all that counts though. :) My other prediction that I didn't put here, but did make, was that the reason the Greens and UKIP weren't running is because they didn't want to come 5th or 6th, seems to have been borne out.

So, apparently they want to create a crime of 'inciting religious hatred' in order to protect Muslims. Of course.

I work in Leicester South and have been observing stuff randomly. Judging by the number of posters going up it is going to be a shoe-in for the Lib Dems, with RESPECT coming second, Labour third and the Tories nowhere. However, posters don't vote, so who knows?

I got an 'anarcho-capitalist' on IRC to admit his philosophy was internally inconsistent today.

Woo.
